Kayaks and Canoes

A recent development within the Royal Burnham Yacht Club is a growing interest in the use of canoes and kayaks to explore the wonders of Wallasea Island, located directly across the river from the club. The island is, through major effort and planning, being returned to its natural state as a habitat for all manner of wildlife. Over the summer, the RB played host to over 80 canoeists seeking to negotiate a round trip of the island.

The canoe section has offered much more than just paddling, recently sponsoring talks about the changes taking place on Wallasea Island and what we have to look forward to as work progresses.

Club members volunteered their boats and time to keep an eye on those who tired and needed a hand as well as provide escort services for members of the press.

If your idea of getting on the water is in a canoe or kayak then contact the club and we'll put you in contact with our resident expert.
