An organisation such as ours, which has existed for over a century, is steeped in tradition and fiercely proud of the achievements of its members over the years. However, whilst the Club retains some elements of exclusivity, it is certainly not elitist. Our membership ranges from those with state of the art blue water ocean racers to classic dinghies, motor yachts and rowing craft. What our members do share is an affinity with the water and the enjoyment of each other’s company.

We are always pleased to welcome new members who share this affinity. The process of becoming a member requires nomination by a proposer and seconder, both of whom must be existing full members of good standing. The proposer, who usually would have known the prospective member for some time, if necessary arranges introductions to a potential seconder and will arrange introductions to various Flag Officers or General Committee members before the nomination goes forward to the General Committee for consideration.

Of course, potential members may be new to the area or indeed new to sailing, and in such circumstances an approach to the Membership Secretary will usually result in arrangements to meet existing members and from that meeting to secure the required proposer and seconder.

The Membership Secretary is available by phone between 1000hrs and 1400hrs Wednesday to Friday.
